Contact us about SOUP Grant Performances
Cellist Wes Swing and Artist Bolanle Adeboye won a fall 2017 New City Arts SOUP grant to present a multi-event performance art piece based on the theme of mental health awareness. During multiple events, they will ask audience members a series of questions, and from anonymous answers, create a live music and visual tapestry which will represent the emotional tenor of the room. Through swirling sounds and colors, they hope to create space for collective processing and healing. As artists, they want to destigmatize expressing our inner emotional selves in a public setting.
In February 2018, Wes and Bolanle were artists in residence at The Florida School for Deaf and Blind. They led a week of workshops with students, presenting and performing the ideas of the performance art piece at a end of week concert.
