Contact us about SOUP Grant Performances
Wes Swing and Artist Bolanle Adeboye won a fall 2017 New City Arts SOUP grant to present a multi-event performance art piece "Now/Now", based on the theme of mental health awareness. During multiple events, they will ask audience members a series of questions, and from anonymous answers, create a live music and visual tapestry which will represent the emotional tenor of the room. Through swirling sounds and colors, they hope to create space for collective processing and healing. As artists, they want to destigmatize expressing our inner emotional selves in a public setting.
In February 2018, Wes and Bolanle were artists in residence at The Florida School for Deaf and Blind. They led a week of workshops with students, presenting and performing at an end of week concert. They have also presented the work at Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention Center and New City Arts Welcome Gallery.
Wes Swing and Bolanle Adeboye have collaborated on several projects, including a music video, several hour long projection performances, two album covers, a session video, and art exhibitions.
If you would like to sign up for an email list for upcoming performances of the work or more information, please submit your email address below or email Wes and we will be in touch!
